| Flood Aid: The Concert Series For The Victims of Typhoon Ondoy |

NEW YORK– On September 26, 2009, Metro Manila and its nearby areas in the Philippines were hit by the worst natural calamity in over 40 years. Typhoon Ondoy killed at least 280 people and displaced thousands of residents as it dropped the largest amount of rainfall since 1967, flooding almost 90 percent of Metro Manila and parts of Central and Southern Luzon,a s well as areas in Rizal province. Flood waters over 10 feet ripped through neighborhoods sweeping houses and destroying lives. It was a catastrophe never before seen in an already typhoon and flood prone country. In light of these extreme disaster, Poptimes Magazine, the premiere Filipino-American music magazine, along with Soulworks Records, The Filipino Express, Ugnayan ng Mga Anak ng Bayan, and the Damayan Migrant Workers Organization are putting up a series of fundraising concerts in New York City to aid the countless victims of this natural calamity. The first leg of the Flood Aid series will be held on Sunday, October 11 at Fontana's Bar located at 105 Eldridge Street, New York, New York. Doors open at 2 PM and show begins at 3:00 PM. Flood Aid 1 will be graced by some of the best artists in the scene today: Jeni Nielsen, Pachada, Prtdth, John FLorm John Violago, Jay Legaspi, Sodapop Suicide, Qwadra, Trickbag, Blue Mellon Pop, 2 D.I.M, and CO5. There is a $10 charge at the door. Proceeds of this concert will be sent directly to The Philippine National Red Cross and The Sagip-Tulong Sa Pilipinas Emergency Relief Campaign. The event will also be a drop-off point for relief goods, thanks to The Damayan Migrant Workers Organization, the group that will facilitate the handling of these kinds of donations. The second leg of Flood Aid will be on Saturday, October 17 also at Fontanas Bar NYC. This concert will feature three local hot groups: Ready Empire, Ave, and The Happy Analogues; and one of the top indie bands from Manila, Ciudad. Proceeds from Flood Aid 2, which is also known as "Bring Your Friends to School For Some Tales, will also be donated directly to the groups already mentioned. A 3rd leg is slated for November 20 also at Fontana's Bar, but specific details are yet to come.
